We offer:

Traineeships of 4 to 6 months within the following sections of the EU Delegation to Dominican Republic, starting in September 2022:

  • Traineeship in the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI):

    Overall purpose of the section:

    Under the supervision of the Head of the PP&I section, monitor and report on political developments, particularly those having an impact on EU policies and EU-DR relations. Develop, design and manage external and internal information and communication actions and projects in order to inform and promote EU policies, programmes and activities concerning the Delegation to Dominican Republic. To coordinate relations with press and media under the authority of the HoD, under the supervision of the Head of Section and in collaboration with the relevant DG services.

    Main tasks:

    • Monitor, analyse and report on internal and regional developments having an impact on EU policies and EU-Dominican Republic relations.
    • Draft brief notes, speeches, presentations and speaking points to support policy dialogue in all areas of concern
    • Contribute to prepare, provide support and assistance to high-level visits.
    • Contribute to the setting-up, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of information, communication and publications strategies.
    • Compile relevant UE information, legislation and policies for their posterior diffusion.
    • Contributing to the Delegation’s press review.
    • Assisting the Section in the organisation of visibility events and promotion material.
    • Assist other sections in events and communication strategies.
    • Support the work of the Political, Press and Information in achieving the Delegation’s public communication strategy.

 

  • Traineeship in the Trade Section (TRADE):

    Overall purpose of the section:

    Under the supervision of the Head of the Trade section, coordination, monitoring and reporting on trade and investment relations between the EU and the Dominican Republic and, particularly in the framework of the implementation of the EPA and EU-CARIFORUM Economic Partnership Agreement.

    Main tasks:

    • Contribute to the monitoring and reporting on trade and investment issues.
    • Monitor press/media reviews/social media concerning local coverage of issues in the areas assigned.
    • Provide on request briefings, presentations, statistical data, draft speeches, press releases and articles concerning the areas assigned.
    • Contribute to improving the visibility, communication and perception of trade-related issues and activities carried out in the Dominican Republic by the European Union.

For the POLITICAL, PRESS and INFORMATION section: 

  • At least a University B.A. in international relations, political science , law, sociology, journalism or related field.
  • A University diploma or prior experience in Journalism, communication and social media’s will be an asset.
  • The incumbent must be able to demonstrate strong computer literacy notably for internet and web content production, webinars, and good management skills of social networks applications such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
  • Excellent spoken and written command of Spanish and English is required.
  • Prior experience in the corresponding field will be an asset.

 

For the TRADE section:

  • At least a B.A. diploma in Trade, economy or related field.
  • Prior experience in the corresponding field will be an asset.
  • Excellent spoken and written command of Spanish and English is required.
  • Prior experience in the corresponding field will be an asset.

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.

Non-resident candidates must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin. In assessing the applications received, account will need to be taken of the COVID-19 situation and its possible effects on access possibilities to the country of assignment and thus candidates currently residing in country of assignment might be preferred.

The Delegation informs that even if our Headquarters confirm the eligibility of the selected candidate, traineeships could be postponed, suspended or even cancelled considering the very evolving context of the COVID-19 outbreak in the host country as well as in the country of origin. The same rule apply if a selected candidate is unable to reach the country of assignment.
