Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to the OECD and UNESCO in Paris
We offer:
A traineeship of 4-5 months within the OECD Political or UNESCO Political or OECD Economic/Trade or OECD Development Section of the EU Delegation to the OECD and UNESCO in Paris, starting in September 2023.
The Delegation represents the European Union and its 27 Member States at the UNESCO, OECD and IEA and is based in Paris. These three, very different organisations deal with a wide array of economic, social, environmental but also cultural, education and energy matters which are of major relevance to the EU.

Main tasks:
- Preparation of EU line-to-take for OECD, UNESCO or IEA meetings;
- Participation, note-taking, and drafting of reports of EU coordination meetings;
- Participation, note-taking, and drafting of reports of OECD, UNESCO or IEA meetings;
- Drafting research papers on
- EU-related matters;
- OECD, UNESCO or IEA matters
We look for:
Qualifications or special requirements:
- The Delegation is looking for 5 highly motivated and proactive trainees to work on OECD (4 posts) and UNESCO (1 post);
- You have a university degree (e.g. law, economics, international relations, or other);
- A master’s degree is an asset;
- You have excellent command of English, in particular solid drafting skills (a written test will be requested);
- You have some knowledge of French;
- You may wish to indicate whether you have any expertise with OECD or UNESCO or IEA-related matters, or any particular interest/preference for any of the three Organisations. Note however that the ultimate decision as to traineeship assignment lies with the Delegation.
- Traineeship will start between 1st and 15th September 2023 (exact date to be confirmed by EU Delegation to selected trainees). Applicants not available to start by 15th September 2023 will not be considered.
- Due to the large number of applicants and the limited number of places available, applicants are strongly advised to note the eligibility criteria for a traineeship at the EU Delegation. Unless all the requirements are met (including availability), your application will not be considered.

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens from EU Member states:
- must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
- must undertake to apply for a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
The Delegation informs that even if our Headquarters confirm the eligibility of the selected candidate, traineeships could be postponed, suspended or even cancelled considering the context of the COVID-19 in the host country as well as in the country of origin where applicable.
