Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Türkiye?

We offer:

A traineeship of 6 months within the Human and Social Development- COOP3 Section of the EU Delegation to Türkiye, starting in February/March 2024, subject to budget availability.  

The Human and Social Development Section, or COOP3, is in charge of the implementation of the EU Instrument of Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) in the social sectors (education, health, employment, etc.), and of the EU programmes of support to refugees in Turkey. After the Facility for Refugees, COOP 3 section is in charge to contract and implement the additional €3 billion refugees support package, announced in June 2021 to continue EU assistance to refugees in Turkey for the period of 2021-2023. The Facility for Refugees is a coordination mechanism that allows for the swift, effective and efficient mobilisation of EU assistance to refugees in Turkey. The Facility ensures the optimal mobilisation of existing EU financing instruments, as humanitarian and/or development assistance, to address the needs of refugees and host communities in a comprehensive and coordinated manner. The Facility and it’s following programme focus their interventions on humanitarian assistance, basic needs, education, migration management, health, municipal infrastructure and socio-economic support.

Main tasks:

  • Contribute to the day-to-day work of the section, in particular related to the refugee support
  • Interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders on Facility related matters
  • Provide assistance for compiling of reports, documents and presentations under supervision, and for managing under supervision presentation of information for the management and on the website of the Delegation
  • Support speech writing for the Head of section, briefings and reports writing for the management
  • Data entry of financial information related to contracts and encoding of data in OPSYS information system of the EU
  • Filing official documents in ARES and the archive of the EU Delegation
  • Assisting in re-setting/organising and preparation of quarterly and annual reporting
  • Coordinate drafting briefings with other section at the EU Delegation
  • Plan and organise visibility missions to promote Facility funded projects across Turkey
We look for:

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Have at least a master’s degree in migration / refugee studies, international relations, political science, development studies, law, social policy, sociology, economics or related fields, after receiving a BA degree in one of the aforementioned fields]
  • have a good knowledge of English (knowledge of Turkish language shall be considered as an asset)
  • professional experience in social sector or international cooperation would be preferred
  • have good drafting and information technologies skills
  • be organised and able to work autonomously

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. As an indication, 2023 monthly grants are published here. These amounts may be revised for traineeships starting in 2024. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable,  based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
