Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Bangladesh?

We offer:

Traineeships of up to 6 months in 2026 within the following sections of the EU Delegation, subject to availability of the budget. The tentative start date is May/June 2026.

 

Traineeship in the Political, Economic, Trade, Press and Information Section (PETPI):

PETPI Section is a small section consisting of the Head of Section, a Political officer, Policy officer and three local agents (trade officer, press officer, senior secretary). The trainee would have the opportunity of covering a wide range of areas, including political developments, trade issues, EU visibility and contacts with civil society)

Main tasks: 

  • Help the Political, Trade and Press Section to monitor, research and analyse the domestic political situation.
  • Assist the Section to monitor, research and analyse trade, labour rights and market access issues.
  • Contribute to the Section's work on EU visibility, including social media, and cultural activities.
  • Draft relevant briefings, press reviews, minutes and policy documents as required.
  • Contribute to maintaining contact with civil society, academia and other stakeholders.
  • Follow meetings and workshops with local partners on connectivity, regional integration and countering violent extremism.

 

Traineeship in the Cooperation section (COOP):

The Cooperation Section consists of the Head of Development Cooperation, three Team Leaders, and three teams covering the following areas: Human Capital Development, Green Inclusive Development, and Inclusive Governance. The trainee would have the opportunity to support the work of several programme officers in charge of EU projects and programmes, including horizontal support and communication.

Main tasks: 

  • Help in the overall internal and external coordination work, including the management of selected projects.
  • Support the implementation of communication and visibility activities.
  • Provide horizontal support across the team.

We look for:

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Taking into account the local health and security conditions, only applicants currently residing in Bangladesh will be considered.
  • Master's degree in an area of relevance to the work of the EU Delegation, such as political science, social science, economics, law or international relations.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (essential), command of another European language could be an advantage.
  • Experience in an International Organisation, Embassy or similar would be an advantage.

Please mention in the subject of your e-mail: Funded Traineeship - 2 Nos. for PETPI and 1 for Cooperation Section (you may only apply to 1 traineeship per delegation, however based on your profile, the delegation could offer you a traineeship in another section).

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee. 

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin. 

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable,  based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
