Honduras: Statement by the Spokesperson on the general elections

On 30 November, Honduran citizens went to the polls in large numbers reaffirming their commitment to democracy.

These elections were observed by a large number of national and international observers including a full-fledged EU Election Observation Mission.

Following a long and protracted process, and the proclamation of results by the National Electoral Council, the EU congratulates Nasry Asfura on his election as President of Honduras.

We look forward to work with President Asfura and his administration, and remain committed to work on common priorities and to deepen our relationship in all areas of mutual interest.
