We hope that you enjoy this special edition of IMPETUS that commemorates 20 years since the establishment of the European Union Military Staff. In this edition, we reminisce on the humble beginnings of the EUMS to its current position as the source of military expertise within the European External Action Service. This edition provides a brief tour of the EUMS past, through the perspectives of the former Directors General, on its 15 year anniversary, and future through the vision of the current incumbent, Vice Admiral Hervé Bléjean.
