Inspire Inclusion

On 8 March 2024, we mark International Women's Day (IWD). Following on last year’s launch of the EEAS Agenda for Diversity and Inclusion, and echoing the IWD Community’s global theme 'Inspire Inclusion', we aim to promote women’s and girls’ rights across all aspects of life. This can only be achieved if we invest in women and inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion. Promoting and safeguarding gender equality creates just, peaceful, and inclusive societies, secures prosperous and just economies, and a healthy planet for future generations. This is also in line with the UN theme for 2024, “Invest in women: Accelerate progress.”

To this end we are acknowledging women's inclusion by showcasing portraits of women and men who inspire inclusion and strive to achieve gender parity, thus also generating ideas how, and what more, every one of us can do to inspire inclusion. Check out the testimonials of all these amazing people below!

The exhibition “Inspire Inclusion” was launched on 7 March, to mark International Women’s Day 2024 at the EEAS Headquarters. When you walk along this photo gallery, you will see women and men who work for the EEAS and who inspire inclusion in different ways. With this exhibition, we aim to make you think about the ‘traditional’ aisles of male portraits in many governmental buildings around the world. It is time to change this ‘picture’ and to include women in our society on an equal basis.

Let's hear it from the men

Involving men and boys as allies in women’s empowerment means getting one step closer to gender equality. On the occasion of Women's Day we asked several men from different corners of the globe to mention the woman who inspires them, be it a popular person, a relative or a friend, and how this impacts their professional or personal lives. Here's what they said...

EP elections - Let's ensure women's voices are heard

Women weren’t given the right to vote. They fought for it.

Yet, today, they’re less inclined to vote, also in the European Elections.

Democracy starts with the people. And it can’t truly deliver if half of the population doesn’t have equal representation.

That’s why it’s important that women’s voices are heard in the upcoming EU elections, no matter where they live.

You can help make it happen!

Invite women to use their vote in June: https://europa.eu/!m668FB

Meet the women behind the EU Electoral Observation Missions

On International Women’s Day, we welcome you to meet some of the women behind the work of EU Electoral Observation Missions. Participation of women in the political sphere, gender-balance as well as respect for women's rights are some of the many aspects that EU Election Observation missions observe, upon invitation from the host country. Whether Chief Observer leading the Mission, legal analyst, media analyst, social media analyst, observer coordinator or electoral technologies analyst, all our female experts play a key role in strengthening democracy and enhancing public confidence in elections processes.
