Iran: Statement by the Spokesperson on the latest attacks

The European Union is alarmed by the latest military escalation in the Middle East. We strongly condemn the latest wave of Iranian attacks against Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. We equally deplore the recent attacks carried out against Saudi commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The EU reiterates that these attacks violate international law, and calls for de-escalation and the full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.

We urge all parties to refrain from taking any action that further threatens regional security and stability and risks undermining efforts towards a peaceful and lasting resolution of the conflict. 

We also urge the protection of civilians by all parties, everywhere in full respect of international humanitarian law.
