KIWA Initiative for the resilience of Pacific States

03.06.2021

The Initiative was launched by France and the European Union at the 2017 One Planet Summit.

The aim of the initiative is to support nature-based solutions for biodiversity and climate change adaptation in the Pacific, two major inseparable issues. Nature-based solutions help adapt to climate change and preserve biodiversity for the wellbeing of communities, coming with many benefits: food security, health, disaster mitigation, economic resilience, closing the gender gap.

It now has five funding partners: France, the European Union, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and a budget totalling €35 million. Read more
