Mauritius: Statement by the Spokesperson on the National Assembly elections
The Republic of Mauritius held National Assembly elections on 10 November.
The EU congratulates Navinchandra Ramgoolam on his appointment as Prime Minister, and the citizens of Mauritius on the holding of a peaceful democratic election, which reflects Mauritius’ tradition of stable democracy, with high rankings on good governance and a positive track-record on human rights.
The EU and Mauritius have a long-standing and solid partnership based on shared values and a strong commitment to promoting a rules-based global order, oceans protection, and the green transition.
We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with Mauritius once the new Government is in place.
