Participation in major international and regional cultural events

We design and implement large-scale initiatives in cooperation with European Commission services, EU Member States, EU Delegations, and international partners. These projects highlight the EU’s values, creativity, and innovation on the global stage. Notable examples include the Guadalajara International Book Fair, where Europe was featured as Guest of Honour, and the Expo 2025 Osaka, where the EU participates with a dedicated Pavilion. Such initiatives highlight Europe’s cultural and scientific excellence, while fostering dialogue with audiences worldwide. Coordination takes place through Inter-Service Groups, Council working parties (CAC and RELEX), and structured collaboration with EU Delegations to ensure coherence and maximum impact.

Engagement with Alumni, Youth, and Diaspora/EU citizens abroad

People are at the heart of our Public Diplomacy.  We work closely with EU citizens living abroad, who act as credible voices for Europe within their communities, with the EU Alumni Network, which gathers individuals worldwide who have studied, worked, or participated in EU-funded programmes, and with youth networks, which give young leaders the opportunity to become partners, advocates, and multipliers of EU values. By empowering these communities, we foster trust, strengthen intercultural understanding, and co-create narratives that reflect both European and global perspectives.

Training, advice, and support for EU Delegations and Ambassadors

To strengthen capacity in the field of Public Diplomacy and International Cultural Relations, we provide continuous training, guidance, and expertise to EU Delegations and Ambassadors. This includes practical advice, methodological tools, and tailored support to enhance outreach strategies. Our work relies on close cooperation with academia and experts, ensuring that our approach is both innovative and evidence based.

EEAS Visitor Programme

A public diplomacy outreach tool to learn about the role of the European External Action Service, the EU’s Diplomatic Service and the political priorities of the High Representative. Study visits are organised primarily targeting students, journalists, diplomats and civil society.

Europe Day

Every year on May 9 the European Union celebrates the historic Schuman declaration which set Europe on a path of peace & prosperity. To mark the occasion, on Europe Day, the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the EU Delegations around the world organise events to celebrate the work the EU does promote a fairer and more sustainable world.
