In response to an invitation from the authorities of the Maldives, the European Union has deployed a mission to observe the 9 September 2023 elections. The European Union Election Observation Mission's (EU EOM) mandate is to assess the election in line with the Maldives' domestic legal framework as well as with the international and regional commitments the Maldives has made regarding democratic elections. The mission will provide an informed, and impartial analysis of the electoral process.
