Just before a book tour to the US expected to launch his literary career, novelist Edward finds himself in a comical predicament: his queer friends heading off to the festivities of Pride, leaving their elderly mothers on his doorstep. A seemingly quiet weekend suddenly revolves entirely around four demanding matriarchs.
‘In all the complex themes that it dealt with (aging parents, loneliness, homosexuality), FOUR MOTHERS never lost its sensitivity - a sensitivity married to humour in the most wonderful way possible.. Off screen, in the dark solitude of the theatre, a few tears were shed.’ (Screen Ireland)
