INTRODUCTION
25 years is a long time. As EUFF Viet Nam reaches this milestone, where do we go from here?
A straight answer might not be forthcoming, but this constitutes an opportunity to bring about a fresh outlook.
Special anniversaries deserve their share of excitement, and we cannot wait for you to dive in and explore what’s in store: the appearance of renowned French-Vietnamese filmmaker Tran Anh Hung whose guest curation constitutes a love-letter to the European cinema that shaped his filmmaking; the programming of various 2026 Cannes winners, some of which again courtesy of the EU’s LUX Audience Award; a return to Da Nang via a collaboration with local arts collectives A Sông and Cinema of Peasants; a free online programme bringing European cinema to film-lovers over the country; and continued engagement with dynamic young film initiatives.
What inter-connects a programme of 34 films and nearly three weeks of watching them? The fun lies precisely in joining the dots, threading the patterns, drawing a bigger picture. Pieces of our time come into view: the moving parts of one vast story, a collective consciousness, like waves breaking onto the shore.
25 years perhaps is not that long after all. See you soon at EUFF Viet Nam 2026. Viva cinema.
