The Portuguese Military University Institute is a public higher education institution for military studies. It provides training and education to the officers of the Portuguese Armed Forces and the National Republican Guard (Guarda Nacional Republicana) throughout their careers, enabling them to perform command and staff duties within their own branches, combined joint forces and within national or international institutions/organizations.

The objective of the visit was to provide LTGEN Martins Pereira an overview on the EUTM-MOZ mission and contribution to the capacity building of the Mozambican armed forces’ units, selected to compose a future Quick Reaction Force (QRF).
The Director of the Portuguese IUM also had the opportunity to visit the Independent Marine Company in Katembe, and observe how the third cycle of the training activities are taking place at this camp.

The EUTM-MOZ primary task is to support a more efficient and effective response by the Mozambican armed forces to the crisis in Cabo Delgado in compliance with the human rights law and international humanitarian law.
