Celebrating the European Day of Languages

The European Union Delegation to Canada and the Ottawa chapter of European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), in collaboration with and the Ottawa Carleton District School Board (OCDSB), organized a series of mini-language classes and booth displays at the Glebe Collegiate Institute in Ottawa on 27 September to mark the annual European Day of Languages.

Participating Member States included Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Spain.

The European Day of Languages was created by the Council of Europe in 2001 and is celebrated every year on or around 26 September to promote language learning and intercultural understanding in Europe and beyond.
