The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan Mr. Traian Hristea is participating in the event and Ms. Anne Spangemacher, Project Officer is representing the EACEA.
At the opening ceremony the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan Mr. Traian Hristea noted: ‘The internationalization of the higher education system is becoming one of the important topics on the agenda today. In this regard, Erasmus+ Information day is an excellent occasion to present and welcome the Erasmus+ programmer's achievements both worldwide and in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The programme was established in 1987 and next year the EU and partner countries will celebrate 30 anniversary of Erasmus programme. I am pleased to highlight that 20 universities and 12 non-academic partners from 11 regions of Kazakhstan are taking part in the implementation of 10 projects selected for funding in 2016 with total allocation around 9,241,821 euros. Five universities are involved in the project activities for the first time’.
Academician Tlektes Yespolov, the Rector of the KazNAU mentioned that ‘International credit mobility, the mobility of faculty and staff are one of the main principles of the Bologna Declaration, and one of the strategic directions of each university. Its development contributes to improving the quality of Kazakhstani higher education; improves the efficiency of scientific research, the establishment of internal and external inter-institutional relations, the use of global education resources. The Erasmus+ programme’s role in it is significant. For many students the programme gives a real start in life, fundamentally changing their outlook, and it is a starting point in their further career development.
Erasmus+ is a programme funded by the European Union that supports activities and academic mobility in the field of education, training, youth and sports. The programme offers a number of opportunities for students and staff of higher education institutions, and for the institutions themselves all over the world.
The programme implements projects for the modernization of the education system in the Partner Countries through the development and introduction of new educational programmes, teaching methods and learning materials. The programme promotes the level of students' knowledge and skills of university staff and, as a result, improve their employment opportunities. The programme provides more opportunities for cooperation and simplifies funding conditions and the application process for grants.
