Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh met with the Ambassadors of EU Member States in Lebanon and exchanged points of view on the economic and financial situation in the country.

Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh visited today the Delegation of the European Union, where he met with the Ambassadors of EU Member States in Lebanon and exchanged points of view on the economic and financial situation in the country.

Governor Salameh highlighted the importance of keeping Lebanon integrated in the global financial markets. He also outlined actions undertaken by the Central Bank to preserve trust in the Lebanese financial system, keep the inflow of remittances and promote the digital and knowledge economy.

Governor Salameh stressed Lebanon's commitment to uphold the highest international standards with regards to tax transparency and fight against tax evasion.

Ambassador Christina Lassen, Head of the Delegation of the European Union, acknowledged the role of the Central Bank in shielding Lebanon from the regional political and economic instability. She added that the EU and the Member States are ready to support the work of the Lebanese authorities in such areas as modernising the infrastructure, preventing corruption, reforming the justice sector and improving the quality of service delivery by public institutions.
