The facilities included a newly-constructed state-of-the-art maternity wing at Mkhuzweni Health Centre near Buhleni. The structure worth E24 million consists of two delivery theatres and a maternal waiting home to accommodate women from remote areas during their last days before delivery.

The structure has also been equipped with new medical equipment and furniture worth more than E5 million.

Commissioning the projects, the King paid tribute to the EU for its continued support to the Kingdom and said with this new equipment no Swazi women should die whilst giving birth.

Speaking on the same occasion, EU Ambassador, Bellomo, said the overall objective of the EU was to help improve the quality and access to health services for all the citizens of Swaziland.
