Speaking at the 4th india m2m + iot forum in New Delhi on 6 March 2017, European Union Ambassador to India Tomasz Kozlowski said that new developments in the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-machine (M2M) communications  would have "an increasingly important impact on our economies and have a profound effect on the everyday life of our citizens.", and that it was therefore "crucial to have intelligent and enabling policies and regulations, and interoperable standards"

"I find it encouraging" remarked Ambassador Kozlowski, "that the telecom standards bodies of India and the EU – TSDSI and ETSI – have decided to work together with leading standards development organisation from other major countries in the oneM2M initiative to jointly define interoperable global standards."
