CEUMC visit to EUFOR OPERATION ALTHEA

From 27 to 28 March 2017, the Chairman of the EU Military Committee, General Mikhail Kostarakos, visited Sarajevo, to attend a ceremony marking the handover of command at the EU Military Operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) (Operation EUFOR ALTHEA).

During the event, outgoing COM EUFOR Major General SCHRÖTTER transferred authority to Major General WALDNER, as the new Force Commander and consequently outgoing Operation Commander and DSACEUR

General BRADSHAW transferred authority to General EVERARD as the newly appointed Operation Commander.
General Kostarakos to mark the occasion, praised EUFOR Operation ALTHEA leadership emphasizing the active role of the Operation which remains important in maintaining a Safe and Secure Environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, providing vital capacity-building to the country's Armed Forces.

During his stay, the Chairman had also an office call with the Minister of Defence Ms Marina Pendeš and the Chief of Joint Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Anto Jeleč, who both shared their views on the current situation. In the same occasion, General Kostarakos expressed his gratitude for BiH's announced participation in EU CSDP missions with a number of officers, which contributes significantly to the country's international image and visibility and finally to all its efforts towards the integration process.
