The first ever ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Meeting on Trafficking in Persons takes place in Semarang, Indonesia, from 4 to 5 April 2017, back-to-back with the 15th ARF Intersessional Meeting on Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (ISM on CTTC).

The event was organised as a follow up of the EU's initiative to include Trafficking in Persons as a priority area of the ARF workplan on CTTC. Co-chairing on behalf of Indonesia and the EU were Mr Chandra W. Yudha, Director of ASEAN Political and Security Cooperation of the Indonesia Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr Basil Vasilica Constantinescu, Chargé d'Affairs a.i. of the EU Mission to ASEAN.

The meeting brings together more than 50 participants representing high ranking officials of ARF partners and supported by a large number of European and Asian experts and practitioners. It also provided an excellent platform to exchange views, best practices and lessons learnt to address this common challenge.

The event was organised with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Jakarta, through the Habibie Center.
