This year's European Higher Education Fair, a joint effort by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Japan and its co-organisers Campus France Japon, the German Academic Exchange Service, Meiji University, Doshisha University, and the Kyoto City Government, will be held on 20-21 May in Tokyo and Kyoto. The fair, now in its sixth edition, has become a fixture on the academic exhibition calendar with its focus on highlighting some of the most attractive higher education programmes offered by European institutions.

As proof of the fair's effectiveness, a record number of EU Member States – 21 – will be taking part this year, with Croatia, Latvia, Romania and Slovakia participating for the first time. Switzerland and Japan will also have booths, pushing up the number of exhibitors in Tokyo to nearly 80, also the highest figure ever. Visitors will be able to speak freely with representatives of the European institutions taking part, and to add further appeal, concrete experiences of how higher education degrees gained in Europe can boost careers will be brought to the fore at panel discussions with MBA holders that will be organised during the fair.

With some 4,000 higher education institutions, the EU is a top destination for the millions of students studying outside their home country who are attracted by unique programmes and curricula, teaching excellence and the diverse history and culture on offer in Europe. In 2016, some 1,200 visitors came to the fair over two days.
