Information campaign on visa-free travel to the European countries was launched

On May 11th a nation-wide communication campaign “Open Europe”, which will explain rights and obligations related to the visa free travel to 30 European countries was launched in Ukraine.

The communication campaign will explain the rules and benefits of visa-free travel. The campaign  target Ukrainians who already travel to Europe and intend to visit EU countries even more often when visa-free regime comes into force. A number of materials and activities will also reach at peopled who intend to visit European countries for the first time.

The communication campaign will start with the launch of an information platform –
the website www.openeurope.in.ua. It will offer advice to the wide audience – from students to pensioners, businessmen and travellers. All the main aspects of visa-free travel to the EU will be explained in the convenient form of questions and answers, in simple and accessible language. The sections for travellers will explain in detail the rules and opportunities of visa-free travel, i.e. the role of the biometric travel passport, rules of entry, length of stay in the EU, opportunities for tourism, short-term training and business trips.

The website has separate sections for travellers with children, for residents of annexed Crimea and the government non-controlled territories of Donbas, for those who plan to study and work in the EU, as well as a section on opportunities for taking advantage of the EU programs for students and researchers from Ukraine.

The site also contains a special section for the experts' community. It provides the data of sociological surveys concerning visa-free travel and results of monitoring of Ukrainian media on this topic. In this section one can find a database of the information materials of this campaign. It will be updated regularly and free to use. The materials could be useful for tour operators, insurance companies and any other organizations associated with the travel of Ukrainians to Europe. The site is available in two languages ​​– Ukrainian and Russian.

The information campaign will cover all regions of Ukraine and will continue until the end of 2018.

Background Information: The campaign is funded by the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine and implemented by the German company GOPA Com, in partnership with Change Communication (Ukraine).

Visa-free travel for citizens of Ukraine with biometric passports will be available in summer 2017 to all EU countries (except for Great Britain and Ireland), as well as to Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
