EU-African Union Joint Communiqué on the Implementation of the Paris Agreement
Brussels/Addis Ababa, 1 June 2017
Ahead of the COP23 in November they pledge to work together to finalise the Paris Agreement work programme. Climate change and renewable energy will figure on the agenda of the upcoming Africa-EU Summit in Abidjan on 29/30 November. This will be an opportunity to confirm the strong solidarity with those most vulnerable to climate change and the determination to work together to build strong and sustainable economies and societies resilient to climate change.
The European Union and the African Union reaffirm their commitment to continuing to address the adverse effects of climate change on human and animal health, natural ecosystems and other social and economic impacts that threaten our developmental gains as a global community.

Communiqué conjoint UE-Union africaine sur la mise en œuvre de l'Accord de Paris
Bruxelles / Addis-Abeba, 1er juin 2017
L'Union européenne et l'Union africaine réaffirment leur ferme attachement à la mise en œuvre intégrale de l'accord de Paris et demandent à tous les partenaires de maintenir l'élan créé en 2015.
Avant la COP23 en novembre, ils s'engagent à travailler ensemble pour finaliser le programme de travail de l'Accord de Paris. Les changements climatiques et les énergies renouvelables figureront à l'ordre du jour du prochain sommet Afrique-UE à Abidjan les 29 et 30 novembre.
Ce sera l'occasion de confirmer la forte solidarité avec les personnes les plus vulnérables au changement climatique et la détermination à travailler ensemble pour bâtir des économies solides et durables et des sociétés résistant aux changements climatiques.
L'Union européenne et l'Union africaine réaffirment leur engagement à continuer de s'attaquer aux effets néfastes des changements climatiques sur la santé humaine et animale, les écosystèmes naturels et d'autres impacts sociaux et économiques qui menacent nos acquis de développement en tant que communauté mondiale.
