EU Ambassador Lassen visits the Lebanese Armed Forces 9th Brigade in Arsal area
The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, Ambassador Christina Lassen, today visited the 9th Brigade of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) deployed around the town of Arsal, securing the eastern border.
The visit was an opportunity to learn about the challenges the 9th Brigade is facing in its area of operations.
Following a presentation by 9th Brigade Commanding Officer and a visit of the outposts of the brigade, Ambassador Lassen reiterated the EU’s full support to the LAF's mission and praised its commitment in the fight against terrorism.
"I am very pleased to be here today to witness first-hand the crucial mission that the 9th Brigade is accomplishing under very difficult circumstances. The European Union attaches great importance to secure borders, which is key for the security and stability of Lebanon and the region," Ambassador Lassen said. "The European Union has provided long-term support for Integrated Border Management (IBM). It also supports the refurbishment works of the training centre at the Rayak Air Base for all the security agencies involved in border management," Ambassador Lassen added.
