Afghanistan has started, a long time ago, a difficult path towards peace. It often happens that those that oppose this process try to undermine it. This has happened again yesterday in the Taywara district of Ghor and today in Kabul.

The European Union expresses its deepest condolences to the families of those who were killed in these attacks and wishes a speedy recovery to the many people wounded. The targeting of civilians, particularly doctors and patients in a hospital, is a clear breach of international humanitarian law.

The European Union continues to stand by the Afghan authorities and people in the fight against terrorism and to support their efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous future for all Afghan citizens.
