Text

The High Representative Federica Mogherini met yesterday with Jordan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh in the margins of the International Conference on the victims of ethnic and religious violence in the Middle East in Paris.

They discussed the situation in the region, notably the conflict in Syria and its impact on the condition of millions of people fleeing the country to escape war, violence and persecution.

The HR/VP commended Jordan's hospitality, as the country hosts around 1 million of refugees, and confirmed the EU strong will to continue to cooperate with Jordan on these efforts. The EU has provided close to 4 bn euros to neighbouring countries of Syria and Iraq and is ready to step up its support.

Minister Judeh and the HR/VP Federica Mogherini also exchanged views on the Middle East Peace Process and other regional developments.
