EU Development projects with Pakistan

The European Union (EU) funds programmes around the world to help address global and local challenges. Reducing poverty and respecting fundamental rights and freedoms are key objectives. In Pakistan, the EU is committed to a stable, democratic and pluralistic society that respects human rights and benefits from its full economic potential through sustainable and inclusive development for all. The EU provides Pakistan about €100 million annually in grants for development and cooperation. This includes efforts to achieve green inclusive growth, increase education and employment skills, promote good governance, human rights, rule of law and ensure sustainable management of natural resources.

EU projects work countrywide with a focus on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan. EU-Pakistan collaboration is grounded in the Strategic Engagement Plan (SEP) of 2019. Cooperation under the SEP includes peace & security, democracy, rule of law, human rights, and migration but also energy, climate change, science & technology, trade & economy and culture.
