Europe on Screen 2018 in Indonesia: 93 films from 24 European countries, 250 screenings, 10 days and 6 cities

More European Films, a celebration of 100th Anniversary of Ingmar Bergman
and a dip in the Ocean
Jakarta, 19 April 2018 — Europe on Screen, the longest-running international film festival in Indonesia, is coming back this year, 3-12 May, bringing dozens of quality European movies to Jakarta, Bandung, Medan, Denpasar, Surabaya and Yogyakarta.
This year the festival, dubbed EoS by fans, puts a spotlight on our shared responsibility for protecting the oceans as a resource for all mankind with the #OurOcean programme of documentaries.
“It is Our Ocean because it belongs to all of us. We hope the programme will increase awareness of the impact that our daily choices have on our planet's blue lungs,” said His Excellency Vincent Guérend, the European Union Ambassador for Indonesia.
In addition, EoS will include this year a special focus on the late, legendary Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, who directed more than 60 feature films, television movies and documentaries and won prestigious prizes including the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
In all, more than 200 screenings of 93 films will be held this year in cultural centres such as Erasmus Huis, Goethe Institute, Istituto Italiano di Cultura and Institut Francais Indonesia; in universities including Universitas Multimedia Nusantara and SAE Institute, and in new venues including the Ke:Kini communal working space, Tugu Kuntskring Paleis and the Hotel Tugu Bali. EoS will also be held in shopping malls such as Bintaro Xchange and Gandaria City for outdoor screenings.
