About the campaign
The European Union's Above the Noise campaign brings together young voices from Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Benin, and Chad in a bold rooftop podcast series. From Accra to Pretoria, these open conversations tackle key issues - Migration, Disinformation, Multilateralism, and Peace and Security - through the unfiltered perspectives of African youth and influencers. Available in English (Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa) and French (Benin, Chad), the campaign lets you hear what matters, directly from those shaping the future.
Migration
Nigeria
Nigeria is full of talent, but is opportunity keeping up? Young Nigerians are building careers, businesses, and creative industries every day - but many still feel they need to leave to succeed. The EU is working with Nigeria to support youth mobility, education, and entrepreneurship, ensuring young people can thrive - whether they choose to stay or go.
Nigeria has a wealth of talent and opportunity. If given the right support, young people can build a future right here.

Disinformation
South Africa
From manipulated headlines to AI-generated deepfakes, disinformation is shaping conversations across South Africa. With social media as a primary news source, distinguishing fact from fiction has never been more important. The EU is working with fact-checkers, journalists, and civil society organisations to promote verified information and strengthen digital security—ensuring that people have the tools to navigate today’s information landscape.
Falling into an echo chamber is easy. It takes effort to fact-check, seek different perspectives, and break free from misinformation.

Multilateralism
Ghana
The EU and Ghana are working together to build a more secure, prosperous, and sustainable future. Whether it’s supporting peace and security, boosting trade, or tackling climate change, collaboration matters. From advocating for Africa’s voice in global decision-making to investing in green skills and sustainable development, multilateralism is shaping Ghana’s future.
African countries need to come together - have one voice - to make sure that when we go to trade deals, we make the right decisions for ourselves. There has to be a bit of unity.

Peace and security
Nigeria
Peace and security require opportunity, stability, and resilience. Across Nigeria, security challenges impact communities, from conflicts in the north to resource tensions driven by climate change. But lasting peace is possible when people, governments, and partners work together. The EU is supporting efforts to build peace and security, from protecting children in conflict zones to strengthening resilience in communities affected by climate change.
If you want peace, create opportunity. If you want security, empower the youth.
