Ukrainian personnel begin training for modern artillery.

Advanced Technology Meets Highly-Motivated Trainees
The GTK Boxer ranks among the most modern wheeled platforms in its class. Its all-wheel drive, modular architecture and advanced protection technologies make it suitable for a wide spectrum of missions. In this program it serves as the carrier vehicle for the RCH 155, a state-of-the-art mobile artillery system capable of firing on the move. Before the weapon system is introduced, Ukrainian soldiers concentrate on vehicle control, slalom driving across rough terrain, reversing with limited visibility, and negotiating extreme gradients under realistic field conditions.
First Impressions from a Ukrainian soldier: “Training on the GTK Boxer has left an extremely positive impression. I am particularly impressed by the quality of instruction and the professionalism of the trainers. The entire course places great emphasis on practical, technically sound teaching.”
Structured Learning and Commitment
According to the instructors, the course participants display exceptional motivation and technical curiosity. “The group is highly committed, fully focused on the Boxer and poses many technically demanding questions,” reports First Lieutenant P.
“Both the instructors and the interpreters are giving their all to ensure that Ukrainian soldiers are optimally prepared for operational deployment,” states the company commander. The first phase concentrates on vehicle handling and underlying technology. Theory is deliberately streamlined so that practical application takes precedence. “The theoretical content has been reduced to the essentials, allowing me to focus entirely on what really matters,” adds the Ukrainian soldier.
Looking Ahead: RCH 155
Mounted on the GTK Boxer chassis, the 155 mm RCH 155 combines modern fire-power with high mobility. Key features include the ability to engage targets while on the move, fully automated operation and extended range. The system will form the core of the next training phase. A clear, step-by-step concept underpins the curriculum: first secure vehicle mastery, then integration of the weapon system.
Training Builds Confidence
This programme forms part of the EU mission EUMAM UA, symbolising the partnership between the EU and Ukraine and their shared commitment. Alongside technical expertise, the training fosters confidence in both the equipment and the instructors.
