Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy. 

The EU Delegation to the Chile works in close coordination with the Embassies and Consulates of the 27 EU Member States. We are a fully-fledged diplomatic mission and represent the European Union in dealings with the Chilean government in areas that are part of the EU’s remit.

We offer

The post of Driver (Local Agent, Group V) in the Delegation’s Administration Section. Under a fixed-term employment contract of one year, with a possibility of renewal under reserve of budgetary availabilities and operational considerations. The team consists of 5 people and there are occasional atypical working hours.

Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation, and on the changes of these needs. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Administration Section, providing support, expertise and assistance in official transportation, logistical and vehicle management. 

Following main tasks and duties are currently required:

  • Safe, reliable, and professional driving of official vehicles for the transport of Delegation staff, visitors, and official missions.
  • Daily inspection, cleaning, and basic maintenance of assigned vehicles.
  • Planning routes, managing schedules, and ensuring timely arrival to all destinations.
  • Logistical support for meetings, events, and missions.
  • Delivery and collection of official documents, correspondence, and materials.
  • Maintaining vehicle logbooks, mileage records, and fuel consumption reports.
  • Any other administrative or logistical tasks related to the activities of the Administrative Section and the Delegation

 

The base salary will depend on relevant and verified employment experience, typically starting from 1.056.271 CLP.  There is a competitive benefits package, subject to certain conditions, including personal leave days and public holidays, health insurances and a retirement savings plan.

The expected start date will be 15/03/2026.

 

Minimum requirements / eligibility criteria (necessary for the application to be considered)

  • Minimum of secondary education diploma or equivalent; 

  • Driving license type B

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience;

  • Right to residence and work in Chile

  • Medical fitness to carry out the tasks assigned

Assets/selection criteria (basis for awarding points to select the best applicant)

  • Basic level of computer skills 

  • Language skills (written, oral) in English

  • Ability to work in a team, high flexibility, and capacity to work under pressure.

  • Work experience with public institutions, embassies, international organizations, or executive transport services.

  • Knowledge of Santiago and regional routes; familiarity with protocol driving for authorities

The process

After the deadline for applications, the eligible applications will be admitted to the Selection by the Committee set up for this purpose. 

Depending on the number of applications received, successive phases of Selection may include shortlisting of candidates-based assessment of the information provided in the cover letter, CV, practical testing and interviews. A shortlist of the best candidates will be invited to the final interview.

Only candidates admitted to each successive selection phase will be contacted individually. The Delegation will not supply additional information or discuss the selection procedure. During the selection process, please do not contact the members of the Selection Committee, but address your questions and comments to the Delegation’s Administration.

The successful candidate will be subject to medical check, background check, etc. whatever is relevant.
