EUMA visits the Women’s Battalion of the Armenian Ministry of Defence

On 3 September, EUMA Head of Mission Ms Satu Koivu had the honour of visiting the Women’s Battalion of the Armenian Ministry of Defence, together with EUMA team members. The meeting was attended by officers and soldiers of the Womens’ Battalion and cadets from the Military University.

During the visit, Ms Koivu presented the Mission’s mandate and activities, with a focus on the role of women within EUMA. She also shared insights from her own leadership journey, highlighting her diverse professional experience as a female leader in different parts of the world.

Advancing the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) remains an important priority for the Mission. Continued engagement with women across different sectors of Armenian society is essential to strengthening their meaningful participation and leadership.

The visit provided an opportunity to learn more about the experiences and challenges faced by women serving in the Armenian Armed Forces, while also creating space for open and constructive dialogue on womens’ role in defence and security organisations.
