Upon arrival at the Asmara International Airport, Dr. Abiy was accorded warm welcome by President Isaias Afwerki and Government and PFDJ higher officials. The historic visit of the Ethiopian Prime Minister and the meeting of the two leaders is the first of its kind in 20 years and is expected to herald a new chapter of peace and cooperation. President Isaias Afwerki and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also held extensive discussions at the State House focusing on diplomatic, political and economic issues of interest to the two countries.
