Senator John McCain was a respected Statesman who dedicated his entire life to public service. He was a man of integrity, principles and a high sense of duty. He was a true believer in the importance of a strong transatlantic relationship for Europe’s and the US security and prosperity and as the pillar of the rules-based global order.

It has been my privilege to cooperate with him over the years, always in a spirit of mutual respect.

We all pay tribute to him and mourn his passing but his legacy will endure.
