Empowering Women in Agriculture in Tanzania
Text
Women face persistent challenges, including unequal access to resources such as capital, labour, expertise and business networks. The EU in Tanzania supports women farmers with several initiatives. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which forms the basis for the European Union’s development cooperation agenda, has one goal (SDG 5) specifically dedicated to achieve gender equality and empower women and girls. Through its past support to the agriculture sector, the EU has ensured gender inequalities in the sector are identified and addressed. Thereby, women are able to continue to contribute to the development of the sector and their own and their families’ well-being.
