Objectives:
RIP: Priority Area 1; Specific objective 2: Support for regional initiatives to address the main threats to peace, security and stability;
Component 1: Strengthening coordination and cooperation in security;
Component 4 : Implementation of programmes to deal with other specific threats facing the region.
Specific Objective:
To combat trafficking in human beings, drugs, firearms, organised crime and terrorism.
Expected results:
- The criminal investigation task forces' capacities of launching sustained investigations into organised crime are strengthened;
- Capacities of National Commissions, relevant ministries and institutions for reducing the circulation, illicit transfer and availability of small arms and light weapons are strengthened;
- Vulnerable populations, including but not limited to women and children, are better protected from becoming victims of human trafficking;
- The governance framework for combating organised crime, including trafficking and terrorism is strengthened.
