Statement by the High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini on Asia Bibi

Today, Asia Bibi is finally free. The decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to uphold its decision to acquit her marks a long-awaited, positive conclusion to the judicial process.  We expect the Government of Pakistan to continue to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of Asia Bibi and her family, as they would do for any Pakistani citizen. As the European Union, we will continue to defend and speak out for the protection and enhancement of fundamental rights around the world.
