The official opening of the JPA will be on Monday, the 13th of June.  The Speaker said it is an honor and privilege for Namibia to host the JPA and it provides excellent networking opportunities with a wide range of experts and MPs on various topics.

EU Ambassador to Namibia, Jana Hybaskova thanked the Namibian Parliament and Government for hosting the JPA and said in these times of turmoil, Europe is looking for partnership and to collaborate on issues such as migration, the price of commodities and how to shape the future together.

In this respect an important Agenda Point will be to discuss what happens after the Cotonou Agreement expires in 2020. Ms Hybaskova added that post-Cotonou discussions will be premised on the Sustainable Development Goals and the eradication of poverty and sustainable development.

She added that these goals are fully aligned with H.E. President Hage Geingob's Harambee Prosperity Plan.
