Statement by the Spokesperson on the terrorist attack in Niger

Today, a terrorist attack committed in Niger, near N’Guigmi, in the south-east of the Diffa region, caused the death of several civilians.

The EU extends its condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Niger at this difficult time.

This attack is the second to be committed in the same circumstances in the Diffa region in March, and represents a worrying trend.

The EU would like to assure the Nigerien authorities of its support for their efforts to guarantee domestic and regional security, including through its contribution to the G5 Sahel Joint Force and the Multinational Joint Task Force.
