The International Contact Group repudiates the arrest of Edgar Zambrano, the first Vice-President of the National Assembly, and urges his immediate and unconditional release. 

It reiterates its firm condemnation of the arbitrary judicial decisions and political repression against representatives of the National Assembly, which will only seriously aggravate the current crisis. 

The ICG reiterates that party leaders and members should be free to pursue their political work free of any intimidation. The parliamentary immunity of National Assembly members must be fully respected.
