Remarks by Carlo Natale, EU Chargé d´Affaires a.i., on the case against TBC Bank co-founders

It is vital that the case brought against TBC Bank co-founders Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze, several years after the alleged legalisation of illegal incomes took place, is handled in a transparent manner.

We expect the principles of rule of law and independence of the judiciary to be fully upheld. A well-functioning judiciary is key for democracy and, i.a. to attract foreign investments.

Developments related to TBC Bank are important for the Georgian banking sector and for the macro-financial stability of the country.
