The Management Board of the Development Fund awarded today 700,000 euro for two projects in northern Kosovo at its meeting in Pristina.

Over 400,000 euro was awarded to the Municipality of Zubin Potok for municipal economic development, including SME development, agricultural support and self-employment.

The Board awarded almost 300,000 euro to the Municipality of Zvecan for constructing municipal water and sewage supply pipelines, electricity grid and road infrastructure for 10 social houses financed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, and 20 houses for IDPs financed by the Ministry for Communities and Return.

The Board also agreed with the suggested audit plan for the operation of the Fund to be undertaken by the Auditor General. This will commence in the autumn 2016.

The Development Fund derives its revenues from taxes collected at the Jarinje/Rudnica and Tabavije/Brnjak crossing points. The revenues collected so far amount to 10 million euro and are used to support socio-economic development of the northern Kosovo. To date, more than 7 million euros have been awarded from the Development Fund to the four northern municipalities.

The operation of the Fund is decided by the Management Board composing Samuel Žbogar, Chair of the Board in his capacity as the EU Special Representative in Kosovo, Kosovo Minister of Finance Avdullah Hoti on behalf of the Kosovo authorities, and Danijela Zubac on behalf of the Serb community.
