Who we are
The Delegation of the European Union, currently consisting of 21 international and Sudanese staff, is a fully accredited diplomatic mission to the Republic of Sudan. After the war erupted in April 2023, the EU Delegation was evacuated from Sudan and operates now from Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt. EU diplomatic mission are typically known as "Delegation"; and the present Head of the Delegation to Sudan is a “Chargé d’Affaires a.i.".
What we do?
The role of the EU Delegation in Sudan is to:

Ensure the representation of the European Union to Sudan in the areas set out in the EU Treaty.

Ensure the access and the delivery of aid and assistance during the humanitarian crisis facing Sudan.

Promote and defend the values and interests of the EU through monitoring human rights, démarches, continue development cooperation in Sudan.

Coordinate with Member States’ embassies in the fields of EU competencies like political, development cooperation and human rights, consular and administrative areas.

Report back to Headquarters on all matters of interest to EU policies.

Maintain the visibility, awareness and understanding of the EU.
Who we are
The Delegation to Sudan consists of staff members of European and Sudanese nationalities. The task of the staff is to assure the best representation of the European Union towards the Republic of Sudan.
The organization of the Delegation is as follows:
Head of Delegation Office:
The office manages the daily agenda and issues related to the EU Head of Delegation/Chargé d’affaires a.i.. The office organizes the missions, meetings and coordinates the work between all the sections of the Delegation.
Deputy Head of Mission Office and Political, Press and Information Section:
The Section manages the agenda and issues related to the Deputy Head of Mission. The section organizes political meetings, press interviews, press conferences, manages the social media platforms and ensures in-depth reporting on Sudan.
Development Cooperation Section:
The section manages all the development / stabilization projects in Sudan. It is the biggest section in the delegation and works with various local and international organizations inside and outside Sudan. The section organizes all the meetings related to development / stabilization and cooperation and provides funds for Sudanese and international organizations and follow up the implementation of the cooperation projects.
Finance and Contracts Section:
The section ensures sound financial and regulatory management of the cooperation projects run by the Delegation. It conducts and organizes in internal and external audit missions.
Administration Section:
The administration and logistics of the EU Delegation to Sudan is run and directed by the EU Delegation to the Arab Republic of Egypt. It is responsible for the provision of logistics, security, vehicles, human resources, protocol affairs and all the logistics to ensure the mission is functioning smoothly from Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt.
