Call for Applications: State of Peace Youth Academy 2025

The European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with the Post-Conflict Research Center, is organizing the third State of Peace Youth Academy between 1 and 14 August 2025. Youth participants will take part in a dynamic two-week program visiting seven cities, engaging in workshops, site visits, cultural events, and peacebuilding initiatives - all while exploring Bosnia and Herzegovina’s rich heritage and history during their summer break.

About the Academy
The State of Peace Youth Academy is an annual immersive program that brings together youth from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, and Serbia. The program offers opportunities to engage with local, regional, and international stakeholders, including decision makers, civil society activists, peace building and reconciliation experts, and peers to build skills, deepen understanding of transitional justice, and foster connections for a more peaceful future.

What to Expect

Over 14 days, you will:

  • Visit important cultural, memorial, and religious sites across the country
  • Participate in interactive workshops on youth activism, peacebuilding, human rights, and interreligious dialogue
  • Attend film screenings, theatre performances, and cultural tours that highlight Bosnia and Herzegovina’s diverse heritage
  • Meet with government officials, academia, EU and international representatives, and local organizations working on post-conflict recovery
  • Enjoy recreational activities and opportunities to connect with peers from different backgrounds

Who Can Apply?

We invite applications from youth who:

  • Are between 18 and 30 years old
  • Are citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia or Montenegro
  • Are interested in peacebuilding, human rights, and promoting social cohesion
  • Are willing and able to participate in the full two-week program (August 1–14, 2025), including travel between cities

  • Cost: Fully funded program (travel, accommodation, meals, and activities included)
