Adebayo Babajide
Deputy Head of EU Delegation to BiH
Adebayo Babajide took up the position of Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 16th 2023. An economist by training and an alumni of the College of Europe in Bruges, he started his foreign service career in the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs working in the team that coordinated his country’s accession negotiations to the EU.
Adebayo joined the EU External Services in 1997 and has served in a variety of areas, including trade negotiations, development cooperation, enlargement, as well as non-proliferation and disarmament, including as EU Council Working Group Chair. He has previously been posted in Jamaica, Albania and at UN stations (Vienna and New York). Before joining the Delegation in Sarajevo, he served as the first Head of the Political Affairs Section of the newly established EU Delegation in London.
His wife, Uršula, is a literary translator and journalist. With tight familial bonds to Slovenia, he has travelled extensively and become acquainted with the countries of the region.
