European Union in BiH opens call for the Youth Advisory Board

The European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina is opening a public call for the first Youth Advisory Board (YAB), an advisory body consisted of fifteen young leaders from Bosnia and Herzegovina interested in making a direct impact on EU-driven policies, projects, and initiatives.
The European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina Youth Advisory Board will offer an opportunity to young people in BiH to contribute to the work of the European Union office in BiH through a number of engagements on youth-related topics. YAB will work directly with different EU working groups, as well as engage in a number of activities, projects, and initiatives aimed at empowering and connecting future leaders of the country. In addition, members of the YAB will get an opportunity to connect and cooperate with their peers from other YAB around the world.
The EU in BiH Youth Advisory Board will:
- Advise the European Union office in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Head of the EU Delegation and European Union Special Representative in BiH on a number of youth-related topics throughout the year
- Participate and provide a youth perspective in different policy working groups
- Take an active role in different youth-focused EU initiatives and activities as panellists, speakers, trainers, and facilitators
- Support the EU Ambassador and the EU Office in organizing activities for young people and increasing outreach and dialogue with BiH youth
- Take active part in the activities and meetings with different stakeholders, including CSOs, government institutions, decision makers and EU projects representatives, in promoting and advocating for youth priorities
- Collaborate with Young European Ambassadors from BiH and the region to increase visibility of youth driven activities and voices, joint initiatives and EU programms
- Disseminate and promote different EU youth-related projects, initiatives, and activities, as well as the work of YAB via personal social media accounts
- Participate in networking activities and events with other YAB and youth organizations organised by the EU HQ
Upon selection, the new EU in BiH Youth Advisory Board members will participate in the orientation event to learn more about their new role as board members. YAB members will serve an unpaid mandate of min 12 and max 24 months, with all participation costs fully covered. If a member ceases tenure before the expiration of the 24 months period, the vacant position will be advertised.
Selection Criteria:
- Citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, aged 18 to 29
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Motivation to engage on a voluntary basis in YAB activities (advising, policy development, meetings, online calls, organisation committees, events) for up to 24 months
- Not serve as member of any other youth advisory board during the duration of their mandate as the EU in BiH Youth Advisory Board
- Previous experience in activism, volunteering, as well as engagement in the EU projects will be considered an asset
- Good communication skills (including usage of digital media)
The EU in BIH Youth Advisory Board will ensure diversity, equality and inclusion in terms of gender, ethnic and geographic background.
