Statement by the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH Luigi Soreca on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The EU is unequivocally committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU perspective as a single, united and sovereign country. 

The EU urges all political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina to refrain from and renounce provocative divisive rhetoric and actions, including questioning the constitutional order, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the country.

Following the decision of the European Council in March 2024 to open EU accession negotiations, we encourage all political actors to focus on the EU path, for the benefit of BiH citizens.
