On unfounded claims about the EU's actions in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The European Union is and will consistently remain the most loyal and reliable partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is by a considerable margin the largest investor in the country, providing significant support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s future in the EU.

The EU has been constantly clear that attacks on the territorial integrity, sovereignty and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina are unacceptable. There cannot be and never will be any negotiations on these principles.

The rule of law and judicial independence are fundamental principles for the EU. Claims that the EU is involved in influencing judicial proceedings in Bosnia and Herzegovina are completely false, and run counter to our values.

The EU supports freedom of expression and will always do so. Nonetheless, unfounded accusations and speculative attacks are not only false, but are harmful and damage trust. We urge the public not to be misled by misinformation. We remain committed to transparency and integrity in our work.

The EU path is the best guarantee of prosperity, stability, functional democratic institutions and rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina and we call on political actors to focus attention on delivering progress towards an EU future for the benefit of BiH citizens.
